Course Description:
This 1-hour online continuing education course is designed to provide mental health professionals with essential knowledge about prescription opioid medications, including their clinical uses, potential for abuse, addiction, and diversion. The course highlights key warning signs of opioid misuse, risk factors for developing opioid use disorder (OUD), and guidelines for identifying and responding to opioid-related issues in clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on mental health professionals' roles in prevention, screening, intervention, and referral within the scope of behavioral health care.
Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the pharmacological properties and clinical uses of prescription opioid drugs.
