Intermediate level course

Course Description: This course will discuss laws and regulations relevant to providing telehealth services. Topics include informed consent, referrals, appropriateness of telehealth, confidentiality, interjurisdictional practice issues, standard of care, unprofessional conduct, and laws and rules of the board. Additional topics include documentation/record keeping, cultural sensitivity, payment and billing, and emergency management.

Objectives:

1. The clinician will be able to examine the issues associated with interjurisdictional boundaries.

2. The clinician will be able to differentiate the ethical and legal principals of telehealth mental health services.

3.The clinician will be able to determine confidentiality laws and the impact of those laws have on the telehealth services.
