Online/Interactive CE vs. Self-Study

The way a course is submitted after it is completed determines whether it can be counted as self-study or through Online/Interactive means. If you complete the course electronically, and submit the results electronically, the hours can be considered as regular CE. However, if you submit the completed course to the provider through the mail, those hours are considered self-study.

Receipts are available under the My Account tab.

How many hours is one CEU?

One CEU (continuing education unit) is equal to one contact hour of participation in a continuing education class. A contact hour or CEU is equivalent to, or the same as, one 60-minute interaction between the learning object and the participant. When completing online courses, the length of the reading material is designed to take one hour per CEU to complete, based on the average reading speed of most adult learners.

What is a continuing education unit?

A continuing education unit or CEU is a measure used by state and professional organizations to determine the amount of learning achieved. Most states require those with professional licenses to complete continuing education courses. The amount of continuing education units required varies from state to state.

What are CEU used for?

CEU or Continuing Education Units are used to fulfill requirements set forth by state licensing boards. Most professions including counselors, social workers, nurses and psychologists are required to complete continuing education courses that can be used to renew their state licenses. Most state licenses are renewed bi-annually.
